that comprise the great Sioux Nation, along with thousands of non-native supporters, protested peacefully and unarmed

on lands stolen from them against the Dakota's access pipeline, which threatened the only

freshwater intake for the Standing Rock Reservation.

Eventually their protest camp was raided and destroyed as security personnel representing the

United States government, yet again forcibly and violently removed

native people from Standing Rock.

The pipeline they feared was completed and it runs to this day.

The pipeline actually is functioning and working today.

Meanwhile, several months earlier, a group of heavily armed white men invaded and occupied

a national wildlife refuge in Oregon under the pretense that the local people know what's best for them in their land and they don't need the federal government to tell them what they can and cannot do.

Why should a pristine wildlife refuge go unexploited when so many people in the area need jobs?

Those armed insurgents were met by a far more welcoming police force even allowed to come and go as they please.
