Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. The one thing I really try to do in this podcast is to keep things simple. I think life can be very complicated and we get

overwhelmed and we don't know what to do.

So in this podcast we're going to look at what are the three very simple steps to find

happiness now.

Complicated theories of, have their benefit.

They can explain things in detail.

But when we're dealing with raw events right now that are causing us to stress,

what do we do? How do we find happiness in those moments?

I'm hoping this podcast will be especially helpful when we just get hit with raw, yuck, things aren't going well, we're struggling, and we don't

know what to do. How do we get ourselves into a better place? Because sometimes when we're

in those emotional distress situations, it can be very hard to know what to do.

We just suffer, we don't know how to bring about change.

So the first thing we have to do is to figure out what happened, what's going on.

If our affect, if our feelings, if our situation greatly changed, we have to look at and say,

okay, what caused it?

If I'm feeling anxious right now, if I'm having a panic attack, if I'm

depressed, if I'm upset, the question to ask is, why? What's happening right now to cause

this? I know sometimes emotions can seem out of nowhere,

but there's always, always a precipitating cause, and that's what we want to look for.

We want to look for what caused us to get into

this distressed state right now. That's the first thing we do. I do know some people

are going to think. I don't know why I feel this way. Maybe I'm just a depressed person. Maybe I'm just anxious right now. Maybe there's no reason.
