Summary

One of my more difficult podcasts to speak about the issues we face in mental health. The reason for this was to be honest a big part of the grieving process for me of a team mate and friend who took their life last week.

I want to show people that it's ok to speak up about it and I think it needs to be done more, so here's episode 13, enjoy.

Welcome to episode 13 of the James Smith Podcast. Today, probably going to be hosting the

0:09.4

podcast, which is probably going to be the toughest one for me to talk about, it's probably

0:15.4

the toughest one for me to explain, and potentially could be the one where I get the most criticism,

0:19.6

but I felt it was something that had to get off my chest and I only actually decided to

0:23.8

do this podcast in the last few hours. And I'm currently sat in the studio on a Sunday

0:29.2

afternoon and the majority of my work gets done during the week, but when we delve into

0:35.5

the topics that I'm going to waffle about, I think you'll start to appreciate how important

0:40.9

even 24 hours is in this game. You know, pushing it off a day or just, you know, doing it

0:47.0

tomorrow could mean the difference between what I'm going to ask people to do today and,

0:53.0

you know, the lives that that could affect. And one thing that's really hit home for

0:57.8

me is the potential reach of this podcast is actually phenomenal. And there are people

1:03.8

whose careers revolve around podcasting who may not even get the scope of the reach

1:09.0

that mine does. And I've kind of taken that quite seriously, that, you know, as far as people

1:16.6

that can talk out in the industry and as far as having people to listen, it's not something

1:21.3

that I'm really willing to take for granted. So, you know, today is going to be probably

1:25.6

a bit heavy, if I'm honest, it's going to be heavy for the listener, but it's also going

1:30.2

to be quite heavy for me. And it wouldn't surprise me if it had different intervals in this.

1:34.9

I'm probably going to have to pause it. And you may hear the edits in between, you may

1:38.5

not be able to say, oh, I like to produce it. And, you know, the reason that I've called

1:44.8

this podcast, mental wealth, you know, the topic is going to be mental health. However,

1:50.4

with me, I kind of have this notion that I had that a lot of people have their understanding

1:54.4

of wealth, not wrong, but not as good as it could be. And I see a lot of my friends get
