and my goal is to give beginning gardeners the when they're ready to

pick, and how to succession plant them effectively with other crops. When I first started growing peas,

I really had no idea what I was doing. And I know if you've been with me for a while, you know that

seems to be kind of my

theme is I go back to when I first started my garden and I was so clueless about certain things.

I would do research and I would try to find all the information that I could and honestly a lot

of my knowledge has just come from trial and error and one of those ways of learning

about growing peas is through trial and error but I have to say that peas still have a prominent

place in my garden because they're so enjoyable to grow and it's a crop I encourage any beginning gardener to grow.

It's really not that hard.

We're going to talk about some basics today and I hope that these basics are going to help

you be motivated to add peas in your garden.

The first thing you need to know is that peas are a cool weather crop and what that means is they

don't like it when temperatures rise into the 90s which that starts happening in

our area probably late May or so just depending on the season nowadays you never

know right they won't flower when the temperature gets really, really hot.

So I've heard, I've usually gotten my peas in and out before that even happens, but that's

why it's recommended that you start your peas early so you can get them harvested before the

weather starts turning hot.

And on just a side note, that's one of the reasons I love growing peas is because I harvest them in the most beautiful time of the year.

It's just absolutely gorgeous in May when they're ready to come harvest and it's just so much fun.
