Good, she's quiet now.

So what does that mean to do away with something?

It means to stop doing something.

To stop it.

So, Minty, you need to do away with your meowing. That means she needs to be quiet. She needs to

shut up. She needs to stop meowing. Shane, you need to do away with your smoking. Well, I'm doing a damn

fine job. I'm not completely smoke-free, but yeah, I pretty much quit.

I'm almost 100% smoke-free.

If I were 100% smoke-free, if I was successful in quitting, I could say,

I've done away with smoking. I've done away with smoking.
