Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Monday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan unpacks the collapse of U.S.-Iran peace talks in Pakistan and a dramatic new escalation: President Trump's naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman, designed to counter Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz and shift leverage over global oil flows.

He explains why negotiations broke down over Iran's refusal to abandon its nuclear program, despite major concessions, and how the new U.S. strategy aims to "blockade the blockade" by controlling maritime access before ships even reach Hormuz. Bryan also connects the dots on the broader geopolitical play, arguing that the real target is China—whose economy depends heavily on Iranian and Middle Eastern energy—and why Beijing is now considering new military support for Tehran.

Plus, Bryan breaks down rising risks in the region, including Iranian mine threats, potential naval confrontations, and the possibility of escalation between the U.S. and China. He closes with key takeaways on the future of the conflict, including the likelihood of prolonged energy price volatility and the high-stakes gamble at the heart of America's strategy to reshape global power dynamics.

As Axios News and others report, peace talks between the U.S. and Iran

collapsed in Islamabad over the weekend. Vice President J.D. Vance said that the U.S. and Iran had

1:01.9

substantive discussions for about 20, 21 hours, but couldn't bridge the gaps. The biggest of all of them,

1:08.4

Iran's nuclear ambitions. Mr. Vance said that the U.S. wanted a long-term commitment from Iran to not seek a nuclear weapon

1:15.3

or any of the tools that they would need to produce one quickly.

1:19.2

That would include no enrichment capability like centrifuges or warhead design or fabrication facilities.

1:26.4

That would also include no more buried nuclear plants like at Pickax Mountain or Isfahan in Fordo.

1:32.9

The vice president repeated a previous offer that the Iranians could have as much low-grade uranium as they wanted delivered from, say, Russia or China for their electricity at their nuclear power plants, and they could get

1:46.4

that uranium for free for life. But no, Iran's negotiators refused. The vice president and the U.S.

1:53.6

team then gave up. They departed Pakistan with the Iranian media outlets saying that the talks

1:59.1

failed because the U.S. was not realistic

2:01.6

and had excessive demands. Behind the scenes, by the way, Vice President J.D. Vance said that the

2:07.6

U.S. negotiating team spoke with President Trump at least a half dozen times during the 21 hours

2:13.4

or so of the peace marathon. They also spoke with the Secretary of State, Michael Rubio,
