Summary

We got to have a joyous, wide-ranging interview with the athlete who has quietly had one of the greatest running seasons ever, Adam Peterman! He is so kind, funny, and gracious, and we can't wait for you to get to know him in a deeper way during this episode.

Adam's last year of racing has been mind-blowing, with wins at the JFK 50 Miler, Chuckanut 50k, Canyons 100k, Western States 100, and the World Championships. We discuss the training and long-term trajectory that led to his legendary speed and endurance! That means a deep dive into everything from weekly mileage to workouts to strength to training block structure. But our favorite parts of the episode involved his answers to probing questions about kindness, image, and pursuing potential in an uncertain world.

Adam is a stellar human whose journey is just getting started. This is the inspirational story of how a Peterman became a PeterGOD!

We're so happy to be with you today and we are pumped because we're coming in hot after an interview with Adam Peterman, which was so exhilarating.

0:10.0

It was so freaking fun. Adam Peterman is maybe the best. Are we best friends now?

0:15.0

I hope so. He's like the best human. I want to be him. I'm like, can you teach me how you can be such a good person?

0:21.0

I think the problem is he's not just a Peterman. He is a Peter God. And maybe we can aspire to that, but that may be.

0:28.0

Sometimes you just got to let the deities beat deities. That is so true. Okay, so one part where he really showed how much a good person was.

0:35.0

He was like prepared as full for the podcast. We interviewed him and he was sitting in a podcast recording studio that he rented out in his public library.

0:44.0

And to date, no one has done that yet for a podcast. It meant a lot.

0:48.0

That's insane. It's almost like so kind. I'm a little bit skeptical of him. I'm like, dude, what are you planning?

0:54.0

Have you killed people and is there other bodies in your basement? I mean, think about that though.

0:58.0

We asked this athlete that just won the World Championships, just one Western States to be on our podcast.

1:03.0

Not only did he say yes, but he went to the library, rented out a podcast recording studio.

1:08.0

That is just so wildly cool. And it's really emblematic of what he's known for in general,

1:13.0

which is this wonderful human who goes out of his way for others. And we want to highlight that a lot on the podcast episode right alongside him being one of the best athletes ever establishing himself in 2022 with a season for the ages.

1:26.0

It was so impressive. I felt like kind of a professor in I was wondering if we could ask him to do homework.

1:30.0

Yeah, I really do any homework that we gave you.

1:33.0

You know, if we asked him to write like a four page essay about his experiences in the World Championships with citations, he totally would.

1:39.0

Yeah, he totally would. In fact, he did something very similar.

1:42.0

So I mentioned after the podcast recording that an athlete we coach that's also professional has had long term Achilles issues, just like he did when Adam was in college.

1:50.0

He sent me an 800 word email with links to all the exercises he does, the protocol that he's used over the years to get healthy.

1:57.0

And I'm like, yeah, this guy's the real deal in every single way.

2:01.0

It is so cool. So let's get into his highlights because I mean, I feel like he has had one of the best years of all time.

2:06.0

Yeah, so it started last year at the JFK 50 mile or where he ran the second fastest time ever and it was insane.
