| 0:06.4 | is originally from Southern Illinois, grew up in a small town named Chester, |
| 0:10.5 | Illinois. She went to Southern Illinois University, Carbondale for her |
| 0:13.6 | Bachelor's and Masters in Communication Disorders and Sciences. Her mother was a |
| 0:17.4 | nurse and her dad was a nurse, anesthetist. Her mom went on to become a |
| 0:21.1 | family medicine physician when she was in high school, |
| 0:23.2 | and then she became interested in the medical field. After college, she took a traveling job in |
| 0:28.0 | Auckland, New Zealand as an SLP and a subacute rehab center. She spent under a year there and then came back to Illinois |
| 0:33.4 | but wanted to continue her education, so she answered a PhD program at the University of |
| 0:37.9 | South Alabama. She was there for a few years until the department underwent some |
| 0:41.8 | upheaval, then she went back to Illinois and worked as an |
| 0:44.7 | SLP with a solo practice for a while that met her husband. She still had thoughts of medicine |
| 0:49.7 | and he had encouraged her to explore that. She ended up taking a few mandatory science classes |
| 0:54.4 | she needed and the MCAT and interviewed, |
| 0:56.6 | and voila. |
| 0:58.0 | She chose anesthesiology and trained her first year |
| 1:00.8 | in surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, |
| 1:02.4 | and then three years in |
| 1:03.3 | anesthesiology at Omaha, Nebraska. She loves critical care, so stayed an |
| 1:07.6 | extra year to do a fellowship in critical care. Now she is an assistant professor |
| 1:11.8 | and attending anesthesiologist and critical care physician at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. |
| 1:18.0 | She is so married to her husband Joe and they have two boys Victor 8 and Henric 4. I hope you guys love this |
