This is episode 126 of the Swallier Pride Podcast and today's guest is Kelsey Day.

She is an SLP with seven years of experience in the acute care setting.

She received her master's degree from Northwestern University where she was trained in dyspasia diagnostics and video

floroscopy with Dr. Jerry Logan.

Kelsey now serves as the lead SLP at California Hospital Medical Center, a level two trauma

center and primary stroke Center in downtown LA, where she

supervises and mentors a team of 9 SLPs.

She specializes in dysphasia care for the critically ill, multi-trauma, and tracheoscomy ventilator dependent populations.

Kelsey launched the fees program at her hospital to facilitate early swallow intervention

for the mechanically ventilated population. She currently serves as a mentor for the Medical

SLP Collective and guest lectures at California State University Fullerton.

Now I hope you guys love this episode. This actually stemmed from a talk that Karen Shefler and I did at

Asha, not last year, but the year before, all about what we had coined or Karen had coined

the Platinum Standard. had coined the platinum standard and you know I know I get a lot of messages from people that you know I get a lot of

messages from people that you know I get a lot of messages from people that aren't very happy with how I say that we need to be advocating for more instrumentals and it's just not possible in their facility and I can assure you that it is.

There's so many people, I've gotten so much feedback, I've gotten so many messages from people

that have thanked me for this podcast because they've been able to advocate for

instrumentation.

And we're going to crank it up a notch here.

So this episode is not about advocating

for instrumentation, but advocating for both kinds of instrumentation. So advocating for both

these and video fluoscopy.
