Summary

Jordan B. Peterson is back to close out the week. Today, he talks about the immense power of embracing your aggression.

People who don’t integrate their aggression typically become eternally angry due to allowing themselves to be pushed around and bullied by others. Don’t let this happen to you.

Stand up for yourself. Move toward your fears instead of avoiding them. And as Jordan explains in this clip, make sure you have options. Because it’s impossible to stand up for yourself if you don’t have any power.

We've got Jordan B. Peterson back on the show.

0:43.0

He was on the podcast a few weeks ago talking about this very same topic, but I wanted to reiterate it

0:50.0

because I think we need to hear it again and again because it can't get lost in the mix.

0:55.0

And the topic is embracing the qualities that you have which are aggression and assertiveness.

1:06.0

If you're not assertive, it's going to be really hard to move up in this world.

1:11.0

You got to stand up. You got to be seen. You got to be heard as well.

1:16.0

And if you don't embrace your aggressive nature, not meaning you have to walk around your whole life like being aggressive,

1:22.0

but just know that there is a time and a place for it.

1:26.0

Because if you deny your aggression, you end up becoming angry because people just walk all over you.

1:32.0

You become a punching bag. And there are lots of punching bags these days in our society who are, you know, they allow this little tiny tyrannical minority rule their entire lives.

1:44.0

It's kind of trippy. We talked about that a couple of weeks ago.

1:46.0

But accept your aggressive nature, accept your assertiveness and know how all of the different qualities, all the different traits of human nature are part of you.

1:56.0

And you have them for a reason. Jordan B Peterson, come in right up.

2:04.0

For example, you can make your anxiety work against you or for you.

2:08.0

And one of the ways I did it, I made a program called the Future Authoring Program that I think helps people do that.

2:15.0

Because one of the things you see when you're talking to people and they're trying to solve problems, is that they're afraid to face the problem.

2:21.0

And so then their anxiety is working against them and you can think about it as a, as antagonistic to rationality.

2:28.0

But then I could say, well, why don't you think for a while about what your life would be like if you didn't face this problem?

2:35.0

Because if you think that through, if you have a problem and you really think through what the consequences are going to be in three to five years of not facing it,
