Welcome to the Mary's Cup of Tea podcast. I'm your host, Mary Jilkovsky. I'm an author, speaker, and all-around self-love advocate. And this is the podcast that will inspire you to love yourself.

Hello, my self-lovers. Welcome to another solo episode on the Mary's Cup of Tea podcast. Today, I wanted to

0:27.2

continue the conversation we were having last week in episode 124, where we talked about how to

0:34.9

overcome the fear of failure.

0:44.5

Hopefully, once you listen to that, you're a little bit more ready to go after your goals and your dreams,

0:47.7

and you're just feeling a little bit more inspired.

0:57.2

So today, I wanted to record a fairly short, well, we'll see how this goes because you know short in my book means long tangents, but I will try to keep it short. And today is going to be a big idea

1:05.6

that will hopefully help you see goal setting and goal achievement a little bit differently.

1:38.2

or when you have a big dream, or something you want to accomplish in life, there's obviously going to be like follow

1:46.2

up tasks, things you need to do to get there, right? And often those tasks feel very daunting.

1:53.8

It feels like, I don't know, how are you ever going to get there? Maybe the timeline just feels

1:59.8

too long and you're like, I don't want to waste my life,

2:03.5

or it feels like everybody's already doing it and they're so much more successful. So why should I

2:09.3

even try? And when you have a big, big goal, a big dream, all these little tasks can feel

2:17.1

really overwhelming. So what do we do? We just

2:20.6

don't do anything at all. At least I don't. I just kind of get crippled by that fear and it demotivates me.

2:30.5

It makes me feel like what's even the point? So what happens instead is that I look at my to-do list

2:37.6

and I start crossing things off my to-do list hoping that crossing shit off is going to somehow

2:44.3

motivate me, right? It's going to make me feel better, more accomplished. And it kind of does. I think that
