0:39.3 | But the idea essentially is, how do we at Wizards communicate with all of you? |
0:45.5 | And this is sort of a history starting in 1993 and the start of magic to now. |
0:51.4 | So first thing, let's go back to 1993. |
0:58.0 | Couple things. The first thing I should stress was when Richard Garfield, the creator of magic, when Richard first made magic, I think his philosophy |
1:04.1 | was that he really liked the idea that a big part of playing magic was discovering magic, that the exploration of the game |
1:13.6 | itself was a big part of the game. So he really did not want to share information about the game. |
1:19.2 | So when Magic first came out back in 1993, there were no lists of cards, there were no deck lists. |
1:25.7 | There was very little information. |
1:28.4 | In fact, just knowing what the cards were, you know, you'd open a pack and see cards for the first time. |
1:33.6 | You'd never even seen before. |
1:35.1 | And I think Richard's vision at the time was like, you would sit down to play, and you would see cards you didn't even know existed when you played against somebody. |
1:43.1 | And another thing that's really important to remember is when Magic started in 93, |
1:48.1 | the Internet existed, but it was in its infancy of what we think of now. |
