Summary

Courtney Carver of Be More With Less shares her thoughts on the inspiration gap and how we all fall in and how to get out. Episode 1223: The Inspiration Gap: Why We All Fall In And How To Get Out by Courtney Carver of Be More With Less on Motivation Courtney Carver was stopped in her tracks with a scary MS diagnosis after decades of debt, discontent, and trying to do it all. She had to slow down, prioritize her health, and figure out what was really important in her life. She discovered what mattered most by getting rid of everything that didn’t matter at all. In the end it all came down to love and health. She went from a busy, overwhelmed advertising director to spending 2-3 hours every morning taking care of herself, loving her work, and being present and engaged with the people she loves. Her family changed, too. They moved from wanting bigger closets, nicer furniture, and more stuff to downsizing into a 750 sq. ft apartment with no storage. Courtney has written books, courses, and hundreds of articles to help you simplify your life and work so you can focus on what really matters. I'm stuck in the Inspiration Gap, that gray area between a spark and a flame, between inspiration

and action. Think back to a time it may have been five years ago or maybe it was yesterday,

0:58.7

where you felt inspired to make a change in your life, or to dump a bad habit, or start a better

one. Then what happened? In some cases, you may have used your inspiration to jump right into action,

1:10.0

but other times you got stuck in the gap. Here's how the Inspiration Gap works. You read a book,

1:15.9

or an article, or watch a documentary, a tenet conference, or hear a story about someone who is

1:21.1

changing their life or changing the world, and your heart flutters a little. You think, if they can

1:26.9

do it so can I. Or your inner voice pipes in, let's do this, let's make a change. Or in some other

1:32.9

way you get a sign that you are inspired to do something, be something, make or change something.

1:39.1

And then the gap. You decide to do more research. You get distracted by email. You are hungry.

1:46.6

You have to pick up the kids at school. You are tired. Your favorite TV show is on. You have to

make dinner. You see that a friend from high school who you can't quite remember just posted her

don't bother. The Inspiration Gap, why we all fall in and how to get out.
