Summary

What if the resistance you feel to receiving support isn't about money—but about the stories you've been carrying that aren't even yours?

In this raw, unfiltered solo episode recorded while walking the streets of Kelowna, BC on Father's Day, Heather gets radically honest about her journey with receiving support, hiring help, and dismantling what it means to be a "strong, independent woman."

Listen in as she shares:

🩶 Why she finally hired a meal prep/house manager and the internal resistance she faced every step of the way

🩶 How buying back time and energy is never really about the money—it's about what you prioritize

🩶 Why we afford what we prioritize, even when we tell ourselves we can't

If you've ever caught yourself saying "I don't need help" while secretly praying someone would just show up and support you, this episode will hit deep. Heather reminds us that receiving support isn't about privilege—it's about what you do with that capacity that matters.

This is how we change the world, ladies.

I got a good dad joke for you. What do you get when you travel back to back to back?

0:09.7

The answer? Constipated. That's what you get. All right, ladies, welcome. That was a horrible

0:17.3

dad joke. I'm actually recording this on Father's Day. I am walking down the

0:22.7

street in Kelowna, British Columbia. And today's solo is all about life update. So I actually

0:35.8

think this is a perfect. I actually got a really good feedback last time I did this.

0:41.2

So if you go back into my podcast like years ago, because I've been podcasting for like eight,

0:46.7

nine years, actually probably like nine or ten years, I used to do solo podcasts like this

0:52.5

walking down the street. You could hear the cars. I still do it

0:56.4

once in a while. Some people like it. Some people don't like it. But I think it's just testament that

1:02.9

the more professional you become, the more produced you become. Like sometimes it's just nice for like a raw behind the scenes.

1:13.6

And although I don't really edit my podcast by any means,

1:17.9

this one is just kind of stream of consciousness if you and I were walking down the street

1:23.5

together.

1:24.0

So today I wanted to give you a life update, but one thing that is like very, very

1:31.1

present for me these days is the art of receiving. And I have been thinking a lot lately about

1:42.6

receiving more. And not, I'm not talking about money. I'm talking about

1:48.2

support and capacity. And this conversation has come up in so many ways in like the last probably months or so but I think because I'm becoming more

2:04.8

consciously aware of it I'm having more and more of those conversations so just to give you

2:10.3

perspective a few weeks ago I was hosting one of my cottage intensive retreats.

2:17.9

So these are kind of like sacred, intimate retreats at my cottage.

2:25.9

And typically the types of women that come to those are, you know, they got a lot on their plate.

2:32.4

They have a lot of responsibility.
