She's a South African author, journalist, and filmmaker whose books include Moxi Land, Zoo City, and The Shining Girls.

The Shining Girls, a horror story about a time-travelling serial killer, is currently being adapted for television by Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way.

Lauren's latest novel Broken Monsters is out now.
