You know, when I... Just now I saw myself coming here with two books instead of the usual one.

I was smiling because it reminded me of this monk, a very senior, very saintly old Swami who's passed recently a few years back.

Swami Mumukhshanadji, he was the president of the Adwaiyatashram and many other places.

So the funny thing about him was that whenever he would go to give a talk,

he would be so worried about mis-coting or missing a reference. So all the things that he would go to give a talk he would be so worried about miscoating or missing a reference so all the things that he would want to say for all the references from

the different books he would get all the books well not in a cart but it would require

another monk an assistant monk to bring all his books

and we as young monks we would make fun of that I remember sniggering at that and now I'm on my

way I don't need an assistant yet but I'm beginning to see I think, all the things that we make fun of when we are younger, we end up doing the same things when we get older.

He was a very saintly soul.

It used to be said, and very vastly learned, very precise as you might imagine, but very humble.

Again, it used to be said, I don't know how true it is, and we used to make fun of this,

that he was so respectful of the senior monks, his seniors, that if he even received a telephone call from the general secretary or the

vice president, he would stand up and receive the call. And not only that, it is rumored,

I haven't seen this, he would take off his sandals because he's on holy ground.

I mean, come on, the person doesn't see you standing up or taking off his sandals.

But for him, but this is so funny for us, but as time goes on, I'm touched.
