My name is Jeff Gluck from The Athletic, and each week I ask the same 12 questions to a different

race car driver.

Up next is Chase Elliott from Hendrick Motorsports, the Defending Cup Series champion, and the

two-time defending winner of the

Roval Race, a race that takes place again this year coming up this weekend, depending

when you're listening to this.

And Chase was kind enough to sit down with me at Talldega Super Speedway prior to that race.

So you might hear some background noise as we were outside outdoors recording this interview. Obviously, right now, the protocols are in place there

to try and avoid getting the drivers sick in the middle of the playoff. So outdoor interviews are encouraged and all that.

But this turned out, I think, to be the best interview I've ever done with Chase Elliott.

I thought this was really good.

He was in a great chatty mood and really enjoyed talking to him about a variety of topics.
