Hey there, from CNN, I'm Chris de Booe with the five things you need to know for

Wednesday, April 3rd. Search and Rescue Operations are ongoing in Taiwan today

after the island was hit with a 7.4 magnitude earthquake, the strongest

it's seen in 25 years. Authorities say at least nine people are dead, more than

900 are injured, and scores of people are trapped in the rubble. The US Geological Survey says Taiwan has

been hit with 29 aftershocks greater than a 4.0 magnitude near the epicenter of the quake.

That's in Walline County, which is home to around 3,000 people of the 23 million that live in Taiwan.

CNN's Hanako Montgomery has more on the rescue operations.

The Taiwanese Defense Ministry has dispatched military troops to coincide and to work with

local governments, try to get people to safety, get them out from underneath the

rubles of their homes and buildings.
