Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Friday, June 21st.

The mayor of Rodoso New Mexico says authorities there are preparing for more fatalities after a

pair of wildfires killed at least two people in the last few days. We do have teams

that are coming in with dogs to look for loss of life.

The FBI is investigating what could have caused the fires

and the Biden administration has approved an expediated major disaster declaration

from the state's governor.

But wildfires are not the only problem the village is facing.

They're also dealing with severe flash flooding,

as remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto are bringing moisture over burnt ground.

Yesterday's event was very small, the one coming up is expected to be catastrophic.

Heavy rainfall is also expected to bring a flood threat across the upper Midwest in the next two days.

Meanwhile, a heat dome is shifting south to the mid-Atlantic and the Midwest,

where temperatures could hit 100 degrees this weekend, leaving 100 million people under heat alerts.

D.C. Philly and Newark could all see records in the next couple of days,

along with dozens of other locations in the region.

Elsewhere, Extreme Heats has killed hundreds of people at the Harge pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

The official death toll is under 500, but it's feared that the actual number could be above a thousand.

Pilgrims from several different countries made the journey to Mecca in dangerously high temperatures up to 120 degrees.

Egypt says it has formed a crisis committee and launched an investigation into the deaths.

The country added that the picture isn't clear because of large numbers of unregistered pilgrims who are

unaccounted for among those who have registered and travel to Mecca as part of Egypt's
