Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Tuesday, December 19th.

As we inch closer to the 2024 presidential primaries, the top three GOP contenders are holding events in Iowa today.

Former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Governor Nicky Haley, and current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are all making a final

campaign push before the holidays. And while Trump is still the clear favorite,

Haley does appear to be making some gains, which could be why a pro-Trump super PAC released an attack

ad against her this morning, the first one of Trump's campaign.

New Hampshire can't afford Nicky High Tax, Hale.

Haley's team responded with a statement saying, quote,

It looks like Donald Trump is getting nervous,

and described the ad as recycling the same debunked lies peddled by Ron DeSantis.

Though to date, Trump and his allies

have almost exclusively targeted DeSantis on the airwaves.

This shift in focus to Haley comes as the former South Carolina governor is rising in the polls in New Hampshire

Which is where this ad will air but as they face attacks from the former president

Trump's rivals are increasingly set on tearing into each other instead.

And while Super PACs supporting Haley and Desantis have spent millions on attack ads,

almost none of them are focused on Trump.
