Summary

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. The 12 brave men Jesus picked to spread the word of his resurrection and of the one God were regular men, fishermen, brothers, husbands and fathers, tax collectors- men who knew Jesus and had seen his deeds and believed in him. They were given the mission to spread the word across the known world- a world filled with non-believers and ruthless leaders. No Roman in those years would have believed that within 350 years Rome would lead in following the teachings of Jesus and his disciples or that by the year 2024 1/3 of civilization would be practicing Christianity. But the 12 Apostles and those who followed succeeded in changing the world. Most of them were murdered, martyred to discourage others, but they all had made their mark. This is the story and legend of Jesus's 12 Apostles and their mission to save the world from itself.

legend, and the stories from the time of Jesus extend the writings far outside the New Testament,

0:48.1

and the Disciples is only covered briefly in portions of the New Testament.

0:51.8

Many people still wonder how the 12 Apostles died,

because the New Testament tells with the fate of only two of the Apostles.

Judas who betrayed Jesus, and then went out and hanged himself,

and James, the son of Zebedee who was

executed by Herod about 44 a.d. and was the first of the Apostles to be killed.

In this story we'll relate what scholars and historians know as well as legend and tell you how each of the Apostles spread out to minister and evangelize and how many of the Apostles died for their faith and how.

Reports and legends abound, and they're not always reliable,

1:28.0

but it is safe to say that the Apostles went far and wide as heralds of the message of the risen Christ.

1:34.6

One early legend says they cast lots and divided up the world to determine who would go

1:38.7

where so all could hear about Jesus.

1:41.7

They suffered greatly for their faith and in most cases met

1:44.9

my own deaths because of their bold witness and faith in Christ. I covered the

1:50.5

legend of the Three Mary's some years ago and found that to be one of the most interesting

1:55.1

legends from that time. Basically it tells the story of Mary Magdalene, Mary of Cleopus,
