This goes to the Johnny Depp Amber Heard case for defamation.

And as you know, Johnny Depp won.

He got an enormous award.

He received $10 million plus $5 million in punitive damages.

However, I think it was Virginia, they don't have, you could only get $250,000 in

punitive damages. So he ended up with $10.25 million against her. I don't know what she, I don't know

what she's going to do at that time. Okay. So this all included attorney's fees.

And guess who comes in asking for attorney's fees?

The ACLU comes into the case and is asking for $86,000 from Johnny Depp.

What does the ACLU have to do with the case?

Well, it was a defamation case.

Amber Hurd was arguing First Amendment right, freedom of speech when she published her article about excessive force and I think it was spousal abuse.

That was it.

And Johnny Depp said it was all about him.

His name wasn't mentioned, but it became obvious she was talking about him.

He sued her.

He sued her for defamation.

I don't abuse anybody.

So he subpoenaed the ACLU for its documents that it had in all the cases or several cases regarding First Amendment rights to free speech.

And they said, okay, they provided the documents, but they're arguing that their lawyers, which had to go over the documents,

are entitled to legal fees because the lawyers work 38.7 hours. They want the rate of $800 an hour.
