And for several months, she tried to end it, but Burkett continued to contact her.

And so after she said, we're done, a family member tried to inform Burkett's father about this

continuous harassment, but that didn't work.

So after that phone exchange with the dad, Burkett visited the dark web where he started looking for

someone to kill the victim and to stage it to look like an accident or a robbery gone wrong.

He then hired and paid for someone to kill his one-time ex.

That's what the DOJ said, that all of this happened.

He admitted to getting detailed directions for killing her

and paying the hitman $13,000 in Bitcoin.

Well, it turns out that the hitman was, in fact, a guy who contacted the FBI and then provided proof. Burkett's attempt to have the victim killed, evidence of payment.

And so in May of 2021, an undercover law enforcement officer contacted Burkett back, claiming to be the hired killer.
