Hello and welcome to the Thursday December 28th, 2017 edition of Tesla Daily Unofficial Tesla Podcast.

Today we're talking about Tesla registering more Model 3 Vins with NHTSA.

Tesla stock on the day today closed up 1.19% to $315.36, this compared to the NASDAQ up 0.16%.

Supercharger network update, we are currently at 1,120 supercharging locations

with one new station opening up in Quebec.

The big news today is that Tesla has registered over 3,500 new Vins with the National Highway

Traffic and Safety Administration.

It still seems like nobody including myself has been able to figure out really what their requirements are for Tesla to register Vins with NHTSA, but so far they have proven to be a pretty good leading indicator of Tesla's production, or at least VIN assignments to customers. This batch of

3500 VINs is the largest batch that we've seen this far and it brings the

highest VIN up to 8,362, highest registered VIN, that is.

The previous highs were 4,794 back on December 19th, 10 days ago,

and then prior to that, 3,840 back on November 21st.

Prior to that in October, Tesla had back-to-back days

where they registered some Vins.

And the highs at that point were 2,100 and 2,600.

So for some context about what this 8,300 VIN registration number means, I went

back and I looked at when those VIN registrations happened and then when finally those VINs

were actually spotted in the wild. So the first time

event above 2000 was spotted was on December 6th where 2077 was spotted and

then the first time above 2,500 was December 11th where 2,556 was spotted.

Those vins would have been registered on October 27th and October 28th, respectively.
