And we begin this morning with an 8-year-old girl getting a personal lesson in losing from Hillary Clinton.

Martha Kennedy Morales is a third grader in Maryland who wanted to be class president

but lost by one vote to a male classmate.

In a handwritten letter, the woman who lost to President Trump

told Martha that she knows all too well what it's like to run for a role

that's only been sought out by boys. Mrs Clinton went on to say she was proud of Martha and she

hopes the third grader continues to seek opportunities for leadership.

Martha says she'll probably run for a class president again, but right now she's happy being

vice president, where she can break the tie if her classmates can't reach agreements.

This week some school kids in Ohio are using the power of the pen to help their town.

Thousands of students from 20 districts near Lordstown sent letters and drawings to General

Motors Boss Mary Barra stating their Christmas wish is for her to keep the local GM factory open.

The giant auto company announced last month that it would stop making the Chevrolet

cruise, which is built at its Lordstown plant.

That means unless a new vehicle is built there, the plant will shut down and

1600 jobs will disappear.

The letter writing campaign was the brainchild of the local auto union leader.

Barra is promising to read all the letters and the company says it's working hard to provide
