December 16th, 2022 and we begin with what's being called a miracle rescue at sea.

Two friends, 76-year-old Joe DiTomaso and 65-year-old Kevin Hyde set sail from New Jersey to Florida on

December 3rd in a 30-foot sailboat. Also along for the ride, a miniature pet poodle named Mini,

what was supposed to be a joy ride in search of warmer weather soon became a nightmare.

The experienced sailors encountered unexpected 40-foot waves and fierce winds that snapped their

mast, plus they ran out of fuel and lost power, radio contact, and all navigational capabilities.

On day 10, a drift and without food or water, a passing tanker crew spotted the men frantically

waving their arms and hoisted them aboard ship 214 miles off the coast of Delaware.

All three including Mini are back home with their families just in time for the holidays.

How would you like a three-day weekend every week? If you go to school in Missouri,

you may be in luck. 25% of the state's districts have now adopted a four-day school week.

The latest and largest to make the switch is the K-12 independent school district

and its 14,000 students. Starting next fall, they'll attend class Tuesday through Friday.

Teachers will also get most Mondays off going in once a month for a service day.

The moves are being made with the hope of attracting teachers, bus drivers, and staff.

District Superintendent Dr. Dale Hurl says applications for new teachers are up 40% from the same

time last year since the talk of the change began. Parents, on the other hand, aren't quite

as enthusiastic, but officials say they will offer child care, field trips, and other options on

the fifth day, some free, some not. The model for Missouri and the rest of the U.S. is Colorado.

Nearly 70% of school districts there are already on a four-day week.
