we begin with a big ceremony happening in Hawaii today, remembering the attack on the Pearl

Harbor Naval Base 80 years ago. The sudden strike by Japanese fighter planes propelled

the U.S. into World War II, and then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt called it a date

which will live in Infamy. Someone who was there on that infamous day is 101-year-old

Aik Shab, who was a young sailor on the USS Arizona when it was hit. And he's attending

today's ceremony in person, thanks to the help of dozens of strangers. His daughter really

wanted him to be there but couldn't afford the cost of two caregivers her dad needed

for the trip. But when she set up a GoFundMe page, more than enough money was raised. Mr.

Shab and his daughter are so grateful for the generosity and excited for him to be part

of this year's events. Last year was the first Pearl Harbor ceremony with no survivors

or eyewitnesses present due to COVID. The U.S. will diplomatically boycott the upcoming

Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. The announcement was made by the White House yesterday. This means

U.S. athletes will still compete, but no U.S. government officials will attend the games.

The U.S. government took the step because it wants to send a message that it strongly

disagrees with China on several issues, including human rights, military aggression, public

health, and trade. The last time the U.S. fully boycotted the Olympics was during the summer

games in 1980, when Jimmy Carter was president to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

Engineers wanting to improve the capability of drones found inspiration from birds, specifically
