The other day, I was looking at a news story.

It was on one of the national news networks, and it was a former cop being interviewed who said he left the force. And this is a story about police,

policemen, women leaving the police departments because it's so difficult and said,

one of two things happen. Either I get killed by some gunman or I shoot and I go go to prison and I'm indicted.

Those are my two choices, which is why, of course, so many cops are leaving the force.

Well, there's a case in El Monte, which is a city here in Southern California, where the wife of a police sergeant has filed a $25 million suit against the L.A. County District Attorney's Office because her husband was killed.

And exactly what the interviewee had said he's so afraid of.

Sergeant Michael Paredes, 42 years old, and his partner were fatally shot while responding

to a stabbing investigation at a motel.

So, hey, there's a guy with a knife.

They show up.

The guy with a knife, 35-year-old Justin William Flores shoots.

There was a gun battle, and Sergeant Perretti's dies, and then Flores takes a gun to himself,

and just blows his own brains out.

So here's what the lawsuit is about.

Remember, she's suing the DA's office, that the

gunman, Flores, the guy had a knife, too, had a gun and a knife, had a prior conviction for burglarizing

his grandparents' home and stealing a TV and was on probation for a gun charge.

And the families, the family who is suing, said that Flores being out of jail based on the DA's policies, that's a guy by the name of George Gascon, who is the DA of Los Angeles,

who is liberal, beyond liberal.

He's basically a defense attorney, and which is why there's such a controversy.
