Summary

There were no major upsets this weekend. But a handful of good teams -- No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 Kansas, No. 20 Texas Tech, etc., -- were pushed by unranked opponents. The pod opens on that, then gets to Lagerald Vick and Kansas (3:09) and Nevada's 8-0 start (12:43). On Sunday, Arizona got to 6-2 (20:17). Is Sean Miller going to get the Wildcats back to the NCAA Tournament even though most predicted he wouldn't? As for UConn (24:45), Akok Akok committed, which is big. Then the fun begins. Norlander has Parrish play "Guess the Celebrity" (28:31) and the guys wrap with a wide-ranging conversation on the College Football Playoff and how it compares to the NCAA Tournament process (37:10).

Hey there, it's Gary Perish. It's Sunday, December 2, 2018. Welcome back to the Iron

0:09.6

College Basketball Podcast. Got Madgirl and I here with Ben. And like we told you on Friday,

0:14.8

there were no games scheduled in college basketball this weekend between two top 15 opponents.

0:20.7

And they're not being any big upsets this weekend. But number one Gonzaga was pushed at

0:25.8

Crayton. Number two Kansas was pushed at home by Stanford, even though Kansas was a 20 point

0:31.2

favorite in that game. Norlander, I know you were in front of a television most of this

0:35.2

weekend of all the results the games. What stood out to you? Well, listen, there's a ton,

0:40.3

a ton that went down. But Saturday itself was was kind of crazy. You had a lot of ranked teams,

0:49.7

Perish, that were flirting with losing that were really threatened with the loss. Either a deficit

0:57.3

early in the first half or lingering in the second half. And that's that goes from Buffalo playing

1:01.6

in Ireland, by the way. That was on CBS Sports Network playing against San Francisco. That was a good

1:06.9

game in NATO. It's a team where we'll remain ranked because they got the win. Kentucky got a 17 point

1:11.8

win over UNC Greensboro. And they were losing early in that game and then they kind of pulled away.

1:16.9

So if you see the final score, you might not have thought anything was too much of a miss with

1:20.5

Kentucky. But it's actually got its issues on both ends of the three point line. We'll get to

1:25.7

that in the podcast down the road. Gonzaga Crayton was probably the most entertaining game on Saturday.

1:31.8

Crayton led throughout the first half into the second half. Gonzaga really flipped a switch

1:37.4

and was able to get that six to eight point cushion. Rui Hachmura, Brandon Clark were fantastic.

1:43.0

Zach Norfell had his moments and Gonzaga doesn't even have all of its pieces. Doesn't have

1:47.1

Geno Krandel. Doesn't have Killing and Tilly. And it's why I tweeted on Saturday. When that team

1:51.7

is healthy, I do believe it's got a good shot at being better than even the team. That was a one

1:55.8

seed two years ago. That only had two losses. I do love with that Gonzaga team. Scott Crayton has
