Our hearts are heavy as we come together to reflect on the devastating event that took place in Nashville yesterday. We are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of family and community.
In the midst of tragedy, it's easy to feel helpless and uncertain about how to move forward. But one thing I wanted to encourage all of you in today is the impact that YOU can have within your home and around your dinner table.
Studies have shown that family meals have a multitude of benefits, including improved communication, better academic performance, and stronger emotional bonds. By spending time together in the kitchen, you are creating opportunities for emotional openness, conversation, questions and self-esteem building.
In today's episode, I wanted to offer a prayer for you to pray around the table with your family in honor of the victims of the Nashville shooting and their loved ones.
I pray that this episode will inspire you to make family meals a priority in your own life and to snuggle your loved ones a little more tightly every single day.

0:00.0 | welcome back to the Living Easy Podcast. Today, I had originally scheduled an episode |
0:06.4 | that is completely different than this one, but after the shooting at Nashville's elementary |
0:12.8 | school today, I couldn't help but to just share a quick prayer. It's not anything elaborate, |
0:21.5 | but I think that it can be really challenging for us as parents to navigate something that |
0:26.4 | hasn't been an issue or a struggle in generations past and though it may have happened occasionally, |
0:32.8 | it is nothing like what we're seeing now. Jesse and I were just watching the news and I think they |
0:38.5 | said there are somewhere upwards of 119 school shootings this school year and it may even be more |
0:44.9 | than that and I cannot even begin to tell you what that does to my heart as I'm sure it does the |
0:52.9 | exact same thing to all of yours and of course we're in Nashville so it feels close to home. |
0:58.8 | My boys' schools were on lockdown and it's just a very jarring experience and I'm sure that many of |
1:07.2 | you have felt this or have had family members who have felt this and I just think is believers |
1:13.2 | that we are called not only to pray and to speak up because those are crucial important things to do |
1:20.2 | but equally to act to write letters, petitions we can sign and doing things differently in our country |
1:30.9 | and when we look at these other countries that do not struggle with these mass shootings, |
1:35.4 | they do not experience these mass shootings in vast numbers like we do, they're doing things differently |
1:43.2 | while we love America, I am all American girl, I feel so strongly that this cannot continue because |
1:51.8 | we are only seeing an upward trend of mass shootings that continue to happen and every year the |
1:58.4 | numbers get larger and so we can sit back and post on social which is what I did and feel helpless |
2:05.6 | essentially or we can do our best to put pen to paper and try to help and figure it out and live |
2:12.5 | above reproach in that way. Equally one thing I really just had heavy on my heart today was the |
2:18.3 | power of the dinner table and this is something that I've talked about long ago actually but |
2:25.0 | one thing that I've seen in solid families, families who are close families who remain close as |
