Okay, welcome to the British History Podcast.

My name is Jamie, and today we're going to do something a little bit different, because

it's been about two years and a hundred episodes since I did a recap episode to remind you

where we were, and what the flow of history was, and also give you a forest view of the

whole thing.

I mean, seriously, we've had about a hundred episodes, and since the last one, we've

gotten to know the Anglo-Saxons and their culture really well.

Even though our sources are limited, we're still getting a sense of what makes them tick.

And we're also learning about the events that were occurring in their political lives,

and how those shaped their home lives.

But I'm guessing that with the detailed look that we've been doing at these people,

the speed, or sometimes lack thereof, of the changes that are happening in Britain

has probably been lost.

So today, we're going to be doing a lightning review of the Anglo-Saxon era to date.

And we're going to remind you of the major political events that we've talked about.

Now what I won't be doing is talking about the uncertainty of the sources, nor the

nuance, nor get into heavy detail of what happened.

We've already covered it before, and you can always double back and check out the earlier

episodes if you want more detail.

This will just be a strict recount of the highlights.

Think of it like a Cliff's Notes episode.
