πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Romans 7:1-4

Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.

0:41.0

because Paul is going to begin speaking about the law, the law of God, you know, the Old

0:47.7

Testament kind of law.

0:50.3

And how it relates to us now that we are believers in Jesus Christ.

0:55.0

Because he has already said, back in chapter 6,

0:58.0

that we are not under law as believers in Jesus Christ, we are under grace.

1:06.4

So his point is we are no longer living in such a way that there is this outward set of

1:11.8

commands and rules that prohibit us from doing other things.

1:17.7

In other words, there's not this law external to us that is from the outside trying to conform our behavior to itself.

1:26.6

We don't live that way anymore as believers in Jesus Christ.

1:31.0

Now we live with an internal standard of conduct, you might say, an internal law that

1:38.7

comes to us from the presence of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

1:43.2

So he's going to begin speaking here in Chapter 7 about how it has come about that we

1:48.3

are released from the law.

1:51.3

And it's come through Jesus Christ. Let's read in Chapter 7, verse number 1. He says,
