He's one of Ireland's most successful stand-up comics,

and is also famous for starring in the TV show Derry Girls.

He's hailed by Billy Connolly as one of his three favourite comedians in the world.

He's touring the UK during April.

I'm talking today with Tommy Tiernan.

No matter how bad a show goes

and sometimes I feel awful after a show

and I would feel bad that night.

The next day I am full of more dreams

and more hopes and more plans and more notion.

Keep trying. Keep going. So that would be my, that's my motto

for now. Keep going. Go on, keep going. I think I have a built-in optimism that's almost effortless.

Like I don't really believe in imposition. I don't really believe in trying. I don't.

Because it never works out well for me.

Anytime I try something, it's always a disaster.

If I was interviewing Tommy Tiernan, I would ask him,

why is he bothering?

There are already enough funny people in England and we don't need you.

Stick to your own people.
