And today on the podcast, I would like to share with you some ideas related to a topic that I know well.

And I bet you probably do too.

That topic is specifically failure.

I want to share with you why.

While I appreciate many things about the current way that we approach

failure in the modern American society, I don't actually think we go far enough, and why I in my

own life and with my children and with my family, why I want to go farther. First, let me address what I think is really good about the way that

we handle failure. In our culture, we have some very useful and helpful and productive ideas

related to failure. For example, you hear me talk about the idea that failure is an event.

It's not a person. That resonates with you when I say it because that's

part of our culture. We have a culture that does not, but we don't have a shame and honor culture.

We don't have this idea that somehow somebody fails and now that person for his generations to

come is now tainted with the mark of failure. No, we have a culture that is quick to forgive,

quick to forget. We have a whole bunch of really productive ideas related to that culture,

specifically where we talk about the importance of people actually being ready for failure

and embracing it and quickly moving on with their life, right?

If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again.

You can dust it off and try again, try again, right?

This is very much part of our culture.

And in the American culture, we're very comfortable with the fact that many of the leaders
