0:00.0 | I'm pulling on my driveway. We all know what that means. It's time for their drive to work. |
0:07.0 | Okay, so today's drive is going to be about AB mechanics. I will start by explaining what AAP mechanics are. |
0:17.0 | Then I will talk about how we design for them and the challenges of A-B mechanics. |
0:22.2 | Okay, so let me start by defining what is an A-B mechanic. |
0:26.6 | In order to be an A-B mechanic, you need to have two things. |
0:30.5 | First off, A is usually the mechanic or the thing that's self-referential. |
0:37.8 | A is, I care about something. |
0:40.0 | And in order to play, I need this thing. |
0:42.1 | A needs something. |
0:43.8 | B is the thing that A needs. |
0:48.3 | Usually B is something that exists. |
0:52.7 | That isn't... |

1:09.1 | normal. Normally in an A-B mechanic, let me give you some |
1:11.8 | examples of A-B mechanics. Madness. So madness is a mechanic that says, if I am discarded, |
1:18.5 | you may pay this usually cheaper cost to play me. Well, madness spells require discard. If there's no discard, madness doesn't mean anything. So the A here is |
1:32.6 | madness and the B is discard. Splice into arcane. The idea is these cards, you can spend the |
1:41.2 | splice mechanic to put the effect onto an arcane spell that is on the stack. |
1:47.0 | So in order to use splice into arcane, you need arcane spells. |
1:51.6 | So A is splice, B is arcane, arcane spells. |
