Welcome back to the quote of the day show. I'm your host Sean Crox and the

Sean Crox and dot com. Today's feature speaker is Mr. Michael Wicket and

today Michael's talking about optimism. See if you can see our lives and the

things that happen to us through two lenses through optimism or through the

lens of pessimism. We can see the things that happen to failures, the rejections

are not so good things and we can say, oh, whoa, it's me or we can see it and say to

ourselves, what's the good that can happen out of this and move forward? Here's

Michael. Now as soon as we talk about optimism, it'll always be people who say, yeah,

but it's difficult to be optimistic in a world filled with cynics and I heard

somebody say that the other day and I thought, well, I've heard that word

cynic before. I'm not sure I know what it means. So I started hunting feverishly

for a definition. I found one from H. L. Manken. He said that a cynic is a man

who when he smells flowers looks around for a coffin. Do you... Do you know

somebody like that? Something good happens and they say there's got to be a

catch. They just really believe life's always going to be a grind and a drag and

you know what? They're right. Because the way you see the world becomes your

world. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being a cynic. I want to

promise you however you will go a whole lot farther in this game called life as

an optimist who looks on the bright side and looks for the good than you will

with a person as a person who carries around cynicism. I discovered the other day
