Welcome everyone to another regularly scheduled rerun for our rerun today.

I wanted to listen back to an episode about white supremacy from last year.

This is before Charlotte's reveal on the alt-right. This is just talking about the rise of white

supremacy in America for who could say why. You know, it's an issue I've been thinking about recently

as I prepare another new episode on the topic that I think is going to have more emphasis on how to

talk to people about it. So today's rerun can be a bit of a primer on that. It does touch on that

subject for sure. Regarding how to talk to people about white supremacy, what we need to be able to

get through to people is just to get them to understand what the term means because we are way beyond

talking about people in white hoods. You know, it's better to think of white supremacy as a system

that affects everyone. So to give you a taste of what I've been thinking recently, here's a concise

little analogy for you that you're welcome to use. To say that someone is helping to uphold the

system of white supremacy is no more an accusation that they hold hate in their heart than to say that

someone who supports capitalism must be rich. There are a lot of poor people out there who love

capitalism and there are a lot of people out there who think of themselves as completely unbigoted

people, but who don't realize that they are supporting a system of white supremacy. Now, of course,

the difference is that the poor people who love capitalism know they love capitalism while most

people have no idea that white supremacy still exists outside the all right, maybe. And, you know,

if you think about it, that's a pretty great place to start. You know, if those people can learn

what we mean by a system of white supremacy, there's a good chance that many of them will be as

disgusted by it as we are and we can find common ground on what is otherwise a contentious issue.

I think mostly based on miscommunication. So a lot more on that in the next new episode for now,

a look back at where we stood around a year ago at this time. As for members, they got a new bonus
