We're in a small town called Eads, which can be found on the outskirts of Memphis, Tennessee.

It's the evening of the 7th of August 1992, and 65-year-old Alan Roberts is arriving home from work.

He parks his car in the garage next to his wife's, as usual.

As he steps out of the car, something catches his eye.

There's a stack of

post on a shelf next to the cars. That's weird he thinks. His wife must have got distracted while

bringing it from the post box. He grabs it and takes it inside. Closing the door behind him,

he calls out for his wife. Her name is Martha Yudora, but friends and family call her Doe

for short. Doe, he shouts, I'm home.

There's no response.

He walks further into the house, calling for Doe.
