November 28th 2018 and we begin with something you will never hear on this

podcast Misinformation that is the word of the year as crowned by the website, dictionary.com.

Misinformation is defined as false information regardless of whether there is intent to mislead.

The internet makes it very easy to spread fake news at the expense of real, and some social media

sites are now fighting back.

They've even set up war rooms to check information for accuracy

before anything can go viral. Misinformation means you aren't necessarily

trying to fool someone. You just didn't know the information was false when you

shared it. Disinformation, however, is a different kettle of fish entirely. It means you are

aware that what you are spreading isn't true.

And that is what has Facebook on the international hot seat.

In London yesterday, nine nations accused the company of disinformation

and grilled the Facebook representative

about election meddling and fake news posts.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg refused to attend.

The meeting and the spotlight under which Facebook has been placed are being called unprecedented.

Tonight President Trump will lead one of the nation's oldest holiday traditions,

the lighting of the National Christmas Tree.

The practice began 96 years ago on Christmas Eve in 1923, when President Calvin Coolidge flipped

the switch in front of 3,000 spectators on the eclipse, a 52 acre park just south of the White House.

Each succeeding President has carried on the tradition.
