Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori.

Today is Tuesday, November 27th, 2018.

And we begin with Sports Illustrated naming their 2018 Sports Kid of the Year.

Leah Hayes is a 13 year old swimmer from Sugar Grove, Illinois,

and she almost never loses.

Leah owns six national age group records

and in some of the longer races she often laps her opponents.

She loves winning, but she also hates seeing other people down.

So after a decisive victory, she'll head over to console her competitors.

And Leah's had even bigger obstacles to overcome herself.

At six, she began to suffer from alopecia, a disease which causes hair loss.

After struggling initially, she now embraces her baldness and uses her success to spread a

message. Be confident and don't let anything hold you back.
