Hello and welcome to the Tuesday November 28th, 2017 edition of Tesla Daily on official Tesla Podcast.

My name is Rob Maower.

Today we're talking mostly about Model 3,

how it compared in the Motor Trend Car of the Year contest,

and a new firmware update.

We also have updated short interest on Tesla stock.

On Monday, Tesla stock closed up four tenths of a percent to $316.81, this compared to the

NASDAQ down 0.15 percent.

Supercharger network update, we are still at 1,056 supercharging locations.

So late in the day on Monday, Motor Trend announced their 2018 car of the year.

Model 3 was a finalist. However, the award went to the Alpha Romeo Julia.

Motor Trend said, quote, the Julia was the only vehicle whose essence and raptured the jury with its

charm, an unbridled zeal for driving.

End quote.

Now if charm was one of the qualifying factors it certainly

certainly makes sense that an Italian sports sedan would place higher on the

charm scale than what the Tesla Model 3 would. The impressions of the Julia overall have been very positive,

but mostly those impressions have been around the quadrifolia, which is the version or the trim level of

the Alpha Romeo Julia that starts at around 80,000, so it's more like the M3 to a 3 series.

If we look at how a BMW lineup would compare.

At the model 3 delivery event back in July, Motor Trend was actually given the opportunity to drive the model 3, which not all media was given the opportunity to do.

Kim Reynolds, who is the director of testing at Motor Trend, actually compared the model 3 at that point in time favorably to the Alpha Romeo Julia.
