And we begin with two turkeys named peanut butter and jelly, getting timely and time-honored

presidential pardons. The two birds were selected as the National Thanksgiving turkeys, and

later today will be spared from the holiday table by President Biden at an annual ceremony

in the Rose Garden. The tradition dates back to the days of Abraham Lincoln, but really

took off with President H.W. Bush in 1989. Like his Oval Office predecessors, President

Biden will grant the 40-pounders a reprieve from the menu and send them to live out their

days in quiet retirement. These two are headed to Purdue University in their home state of Indiana.

Even before today's pardoning, the goblers got a taste of the good life with a special

sweet and pampering at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The most famous of the Kardashian sisters just opened her heart and wallet to whisk

teenage soccer players to safety. The Afghanistan girls development team made it out of the country

when it fell to the Taliban in August, but ended up stuck in nearby Pakistan with their

paperwork expiring and no way out. An hour after word reached Kim Kardashian West, she offered

to foot the entire bill to fly 130 players and families to new lives in London. The plane

touched down early yesterday morning and going forward, the families will get help settling

in from the English Premier League club Leeds United. The Taliban military group, which

now runs Afghanistan, doesn't allow girls to play sports and hundreds of female athletes

have since taken their talents elsewhere.

COVID may dominate the headlines these days, but there's no forgetting it's also flu season,
