And we begin with the nation pausing to remember all those who've served our country.

While it's celebrated today with a day off from

school and work, Veterans Day was officially yesterday and was once known by a

different name. President Woodrow Wilson called it Armistice Day to mark the Armistice

or Agreement that brought an end to World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day

of the 11th month in 1918, 100 years ago. By the 1950s, however, the US had been

involved in two more wars, World War II and the Korean War, so Congress changed the name of the holiday to Veterans Day to honor

servicemen and women from all wars.

Millions of flags will fly today in honor of the holiday and for the modern day design we can thank a high school

It was 1958 and there were only 48 stars on the flag.

Hawaii and Alaska weren't yet states. As a school project Bob Heft

rearranged the stars on his parents flag to add two more just in case. His new
