Hello, whinne Ebers, my name is Jesse Meekham, and this is podcast number 109 for you need a budget,

where we teach you four rules to help you stop living paycheck to paycheck, get out of debt, and save more money.

Today I was sitting down at the piano and staring at a fairly large piece of music with lots of black and not a lot of white,

and that means it's fairly difficult.

I think I've been taking piano lessons for about three and a half years,

and my piano teacher always tells me the exact same thing. She says you

need to break it up into small manageable chunks so that it's doable. Otherwise

when you're just playing through the whole song, making a mistake,

making another mistake, making another mistake, not going back and diving into the detail of the song,

segmenting it out where you can manage those small few notes at a time, practice hands separate and then practice hands together.

All of that ends up being doable. Pretty soon you have one

measure down and then two and then three and then you start working on the

transitions from one measure to the next and then you've got the first page done.

So it is with budgeting.

When you look at that big, hopefully just huge pile of money sitting in your bank account.

You're thinking, okay, we have money for this, we've got money for that,

everything's working, everything's fine, firing on all cylinders, can we afford this? I think think so I don't know maybe so but what you do is you take that money and just like with the piano music you just break it up into meaningful

manageable chunks.

And you say this little bit of money here,

we're going to go to the market.
