I'd like to welcome everybody today's presentation on revolutionary approaches for anxiety treatment.

They are some things that we are starting to look at, but they are certainly alternatives to this typical

cognitive behavioral therapy and take a benzo sort of approaches. In today's presentation, we're

going to examine the root causes of anxiety symptoms and identify emerging treatments to address

these issues. Too often, we look at a mental health issue

as a one-size-fits-all. If you've got depression, we do this. If you've got anxiety, we do this.

And what we miss, and this is one of the revolutionary things, what we miss is what's going on under

the hood.

Each person who has depression may not have the same symptoms.

Each person who has anxiety may not have the same symptoms.

And symptoms are what's causing the problem.

And we need to look at what the person's symptoms are and what's causing

those symptoms and address those issues.

Anxiety, just kind of a brief overview, is a sympathetic stress response. In our autonomic

nervous system, we have the sympathetic stress response. That's our fight or flight, freeze, fawn, or flop.

But that's our stress response.

Our parasympathetic nervous system is our rest, digest, and repair.

The way I remember it is our nervous system has sympathy for us when we're being chased by a lion
