Hi, this is Wayne Callan for Attitude magazine. Today's topic, how to explain ADHD to your child, your family and the world, is something we all come up against a lot. How many times have

we been blindsided by someone making an inaccurate or just plain dumb statement

about ADHD? Just the other day someone overheard a recent graduate in psychology say,

I don't believe in attention deficit and she had attended a prestigious school.

We are often at a loss for the right words to intelligently counter such misguided

statements or to persuade someone otherwise.

We almost need to have a script with us at all times to enlighten people. We have with us today

Ned Hallowell to give us that script. As most of you know, Ned is a practicing

psychiatrist, founder of the Hallowell Center for Cognitive and Emotional Health in

Sudbury, Massachusetts.

He also has centers in New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.

An instructor at Harvard Medical School,

he's the author of many books,

including the bestsellers on AEDD,

driven to distraction, delivered from distraction, and most recently crazy busy.

Ned will discuss how to talk about ADHD to children, friends, family, and so on.

He will give us lots of reference points about attention deficit along the way.
