Hey, everybody, we got a great one today.

You know, for a change, Adam Schiff joins us for the second time.

Now, if you're a regular listener to the Al Franken podcast, you know that we don't have guests back if they were a shitty guest.

So you can be confident that this is a good one.

Adam, of course, is amazing.

He was the manager of the first impeachment of then-President Donald Trump,

that one for shaking down the new president of Ukraine,

a guy named Vlomir Zelensky.

There was active fighting between Ukraine and Russia at the time in eastern Ukraine.

Congress had passed a $391 million package of military equipment and other assistance with

bipartisan support that Trump had frozen.

At least 25 Ukrainians died in the fighting in the weeks that followed,

according to an investigation at the time by the Los Angeles Times. Schiff, I thought,

did an amazing job in that impeachment trial. Every time he got up, I was amazed at how brilliant he was.

I sometimes other members of the team were good, but I always just wanted him to be the guy in there.

I compared this, you know, I'm a big football fan, big Vikings fan. And I've always thought,

you know, I don't care. If Justin Jefferson got a concussion, I just want him back in. If Schiff had gotten a

concussion, I would have just wanted him. I wanted him making the argument all the time. Anyway,

Schiff is now running for the Senate to fill Diane Feinstein's seat. He would make a terrific

addition to the Senate. Of course, he was chairman of the House Intelligence Committee

for 10 years. Speaker McCarthy tossed him. We talk about that in our conversation.
