It was a clinical trial, albeit small, eight patients who had GERD,

gastroasophageal reflux disease, and IBS.

But here's what's interesting. They were given either a high FODMAP or a low FODMAP diet.

They found that the high FODMAP diet led to worse reflux.

Foods that are high in FODMaps are certain fruits and vegetables that are rich in prebiotics that feed bacteria.

Probiotics are the bacteria.
