Summary

Send us a text Jesus visits the pool of Bethesda by Jerusalem's Sheep Gate, where society's "invalids" gathered, and demonstrates how our true identity comes not from worldly labels but from Christ's validation. • Sheep Gate was the easternmost gate on Jerusalem's northern wall where sacrificial animals entered • The location was symbolic—people treated like animals gathered at pools near the sheep washing areas • The English word "invalid" literally means "not valid"—revealing how society v...

Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the spirit, the primary

spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and

Welcome back to Day 2, John Chapter five. We're going to dig right in

0:24.3

verse one. It says after this, there was a feast of the Jews and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

0:30.4

Just a point of Bible study is that no matter where you were in Israel, you always went up to

0:35.1

Jerusalem. It's not talking about heading north, but Jerusalem was the highest

0:39.0

point in all of Israel. Therefore, you were always heading up to get to Jerusalem. Now, there

1:17.3

This would also be where it would be nasty. There were actually a couple of pools there.

1:21.7

And one of these pools was designated for the sheep to be washed. And so what began to happen

1:27.3

around one of these pools, this pool called Bethesda,

1:30.5

is that people who had been treated like animals, they would begin to gather there.

1:37.4

Now there was in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, a pool in an Ameriq called Bethesda,

1:43.2

which has five roofed colonnades. In these lay a multitude of

1:47.6

invalids, blind, lame, and paralyzed. One man who was there, he had been an invalid for 38 years.

1:55.8

Now, I just want to stop right there. The way the world saw these people, the name that we use in English, is invalid.

2:04.8

Now, if you do a little bit of English etymology of the word, if you break it into its components,
