Today, we'll ask Thomas Aquinas why it was necessary that Christ should rise from the dead.

Hey, welcome back to Pints with Aquinas. This is the show where you and I pull up a bar stall next to the angelic doctor to discuss theology and philosophy.

I'm happy, I hope you had a very good blend and that Easter Sunday was beautiful for you and here we are now in the Easter season rejoicing in the risen Christ.

What I want to do today is look at an article, the first article from question 53 in the third part of the Summitheologian, where Aquinas responds to the question, was it necessary that Christ should rise again?

Aquinas is going to give five reasons why it behoved Christ to rise again from the dead. Then what I'd like to do is share why we've got good reason for thinking that Christ rose from the dead.

Around this time of the year, there's different articles written in newspapers and magazines, maybe you'll see different blogs online about whether or not we should trust the accounts of the gospels that tell us that Christ rose from the dead.

So hopefully I'll be able to give you some food for thought there.
